ISA-88 standards are indispensable for the process when it comes to automation and manufacturing.

ISA-88 (commonly known as S88) is a standard published by the International Automation Society (ISA) that specifies models and terminologies for batch control. The standard was published to make it easier for automation vendors to integrate, communicate, and configure stacks. Adopted by Europe as IEC 61512-1.

Today, the standard is used by most manufacturers and automation suppliers dealing with batch control. Especially food and pharmaceutical productions use at least parts of the standard, if not the whole, to track batch production.
